Now retired from teaching after 34 years at Harrogate Ladies' College (former director of physics / IT systems).  Most of my amateur radio operation during those years was from the school shack using the school's callsigns G0HCA and GB2HC.

 

 

 

The text above was written in 2007 - on my retirement in 2012 the number of  licenced YLs had increased to over 200 - believed to be a world record for a school club.

A main feature of the school's operation was in making contacts with Amateurs in space and a number of these contacts may be found at www.g3xwh.com

Operation from home is mostly on HF using an ICOM IC-7300 transceiver into a doublet antenna fed with 450 ohm line via an LDG AT-1000 ProII AMU.

My doublet is difficult to see in the photograph below of the back garden but the centre is about 8m up the trunk of the left hand pine tree.
