I was liscensed in July 1972 after many years as a SWL using old domestic receivers that people used to give me seeing I was interested in radio. These days, I use two Yaesu FT1000D's, a Yaesu FT847 and a Wouxun dual band hand held. I also have an Ameritron AL 811 HF linear and a Tokyo Hy Power 2m linear.

I moved house back in December 2013 and have only now got around to putting up some of my permanent aerials. I now use a 80m dipole fed with open wire feeder for 80/40m and have now just erected a 6 band Hexbeam on a Clarke pump up mast. For VHF/UHF I currently run a Watson W2000, but soon  hope to put up Cushcraft beams for 2m and 70cm.

During 2016, I will, on occasions, be using the special prefix GK. The K is for Kernow, the Cornish name for Cornwall and we have been allowed this  NOV for the year due to Cornwall being given special area status. An award can be obtained for working the K prefix, details of which are on the Poldhu Amateur Radio Club's website. http://gb2gm.org/

My other interests are motorcycling, and following all the bike racing championships. I also like photography both stills and video, and am into railways both real and model, but mainly steam.
