Hi, I have been a member of RSGB for over 54 years , since 1962.This includes as an SWL for over 15 years- as A3299 & then as BRS30371. I am also a member of ARRL,CRA ,CCA, VMARS - Vintage & Military Amateur Radio Society, WAB , GQRP Club; NAQCC {North American QRP CW Club) CDXC ( Chiltern DX Club) & Norfolk Amateur Radio Club. I am on the rota as a  local  GB2RS newsreader for 2 Metres  only.

Primarily interested in operating HF SSB & CW & experimenting with aerials. Also owning/using/researching Vintage equipment & interested in wireless/radio history.

ARRL  DX Awards  :-  309  Current ARRL  DXCC  entities, mixed ssb & cw - confirmed by QSL cards & verified by  card checkers and ARRL.(Plus  confirmations of  an additional 5  former "deleted" entities)

ARRL  QRP  5 Watt DXCC, mixed ssb/cw.

ARRL   8 Band DXCC Award, mixed ssb & cw. (80m,40m,30m,20m,17m,15m,12m & 10m) all by QSL cards.

I enjoy using 5MHz frequencies for which I  held an NOV for over 10 years-prior to the widening of access to those frequencies for full UK licence holders.Also some QRP working on SSB & CW (incl. on 5MHz.)

Vintage interests / equipment: ex-military radios. incl. Mk 128 set (sometimes called a"Spy" ! CW TX), Syncal 30/TRA931X (SSB/CW/AM) ; & Collins. Also, Drake TR4 TX/RX, Drake T-4XC & R-4C plus L4-B linear. Collins equipment: KWM-2's ; KWM-2A , Also an early model of "S" line TX & RX & 30L-1 linear.

Interested in Eddystone RXs/history & own : 640 , 840A , 730/4, 888A & S750/1 RXs. Other RXs : BC348-L, KW77, FR50B.

Main equipt : IC7600, Elecraft K3 with P3, TS940SAT, IC718, FT817, SM230 stn monitor & Acom autu-tuned valve (tube) linear amp. Also IC706 mk11g (have used this on HF in USA as W6/G4DYC).

For vintage AM use : KW Vanguard TX & Heathkit DX40/VF1U TX ; also Heathkit DX35  & Codar AT5 TX - used with KW77 or Eddystone RXs. I gratefully acknowledge help/advice from local Club members & other friends in keeping this equipt operational. I am also learning all the while-plus having fun & have managed some repairs/mods as necessary

 QRP gear: FT817 (have also used this /P in Utah/Nevada), Howes Kit-built 80M.RX/TX; FT290 plus HX240 HF transverter. Also IC703.

Recently, also having fun with a Chinese X1M. Platinum model , 4 watt QRP CW/SSB portable transceiver.

For occasional VHF/UHF : IC706mk11g, Currently to a colinear ant.

4 Metres : SSB/CW/FM on 4 Metres.(Spectrum transverter)

6 Metres: have wkd/confirmed USA & Canada on CW & SSB using 2 el. fixed,indoor HB9CV.

Mobile: /M on 144/430 mHz FM

Aerials:Currently: W5GI - form of dipole - as inverted vee, feed point at 30 feet /10 metres. Also a 30m inverted vee at 30 feet. Other low random wires etc (have confirmed  USA & Canada  on 160M CW with my low "best bent wire".) Also, indoor 6 M. 2el fixed HB9CV beam (worked & confirmed  W & VE on CW & SSB on 6M).

Future: to do more /P work and to  improve aerials in a  small garden....Also to slowly but steadily improve my DXCC score & do more on data modes.

Other interests : family, friends, Porsche  (own a 1991,Guards Red,3 litre 944 S2; registration plate is G4DYC.) Member PCGB.
