That's the Norfolk county flag!

I trained and worked as a broadcast engineer and then a media editor for BBC Monitoring, Reading, Berkshire for 32 years.

Keen home brewer and restorer of vintage amateur, domestic radio and TV equipment, especially if it has valves (tubes) in it.

My articles occassionally appear in (mostly) amateur radio magazines.

My main station is near Fakenham, Norfolk where I have a doublet antenna for 160 to 10m. Modes at the moment are mostly CW and occassionally AM from the vintage gear.

I also have a rather poor set-up in Reading, where a 20 metre random-wire antenna and QRP is all I can get away with! Noise at the Reading location is also a problem, so most of the activity at that QTH are various beacon modes from my Hans Summers U3S kit. Despite this megre set up, QRSS and WSPR gives me hours of facination!

Transmitting equipment:

Elecraft K2

Heathkit HW-8

Heathtit HW-9

Heathtit DX60

Codar AT5

Home brew copy of the AT5 modified for 60 metres

Hans Summers original QRSS kit and U3S

...and an Icom IC2E!
