I joined the Mid Sussex Amateur Radio Society in1980,Where i sat the RAE in 1981, and undertook the some what daunting first steps in learning CW,which did not come to me easily,It took 3 attempts to pass the CW Examination,( But it was worth the effort). Finally received my call sign in November 1982.

On the 10/11/1982 my first station was worked, and it happened to be UA3AOQ on 15m SSB,the first DX was JL1MSJ and VS6KN both on 15m SSB,all with a G5RV and 100w.How things have changed !!

I then became interested in Dxing  in a wonderful hobby, and some 24 years on ,i worked BS7H for my 340th entity too gain #1 Honour Roll status in SSB and Mixed in 2007, require 5 more Entities in CW.(I still need a daily fix of DX)

My first Transceiver was a Yaesu FT101ZD,followed by a Icom 740 one of the first all Solid state radios, and in my retirement year of  2000,i purchased a Yaseu  FT1000.mp

My current Radios are all Yaesu, The FTdx5000, FT1000mp.and a VL1000 Amp, Antennas are Tet HB33m and a 230ft Dipole for all Bands 160m to 6m

I am currently a member of MSARS,RSGB and CDXC.(The Chiltern D X Club)
