Hi, my name is Ray,

I have always been interested in radio,I had my first crystal set in 1955 when I was 10.I was a member of the RSGB as a BRS, (British receive station) station # 33599 .I joined the RNVR # 8 Wireless Divison Colegate Norwich in 1963 where I first started to learn morse. My first call sign in1982 was G6TFS,a few months later I passed the morse test and my new call sign G4UYR.

I live on the site of an old Chain home Station CHL ( early Radar )built 1937/8 and run by RAF 60 group 73 Wing,it stands about 180 feet above sea level and 18 miles inland from the North sea,so have a good take off in most directions.G5RV man Louis Varney is said to have had a hand in the design of the antenna systems and it was claimed he visited the site, they operated around 28-50 mhz.I am still using my first HF transceiver( 1980 )a Yaesu FT101ZD,failed transformer went u/s August 2016,I also have in 2011 a FT450ATwith , a mini Delta Loop 20 feet above ground on a rotatable(armstrong method)scaffold pole .I have recently put up at 25 feet a  HF10 western wire antenna.I am now retired,so have just got back into radio after a gap of 15 years,my favorite bands are 17-12-10 mtrs. I am also a member of Royal Navy Amateur Society number ,RNARS # 2532.

My latest antenna is a hexbeam by MW0JZE the new light weight 6kg version up 8 meter ,i am very pleased with it and can work what i hear.My replacement for the ft101 is a Yaesu FTDX3000d,linear is a solid state by R M italy HLA300 plus.
