I returned to the world of amateur radio after a break of 28 years hence the older call sign. This was due to a neighbour who I met at the local astronomy club. Bill, or G4CFP, who had already cost me a small fortune at the astronomy club and was about to do the same for amateur radio. Talking about it rekindled the interest.

What can I say? Things have changed quite a bit. My old gear consisted of a Yaesu FT77 and a Welz Vertical. Not very sophisticated but it had a switch for everything. Not a menu in sight. Little noise to worry about except the Woodpecker.

Due to a moderately sized garden and an ever vigilent xyl, I find myself restricted in the antenna department.  I have a discone in the loft for the scanner. The HF is taken care of by a Yaesu FT1200 with the extra display board.

I am glad to say that I am enjoying the hobby. I wish there was less noise, (not helped by the vertical), and more Amateur Radio software for Mac computers. I hope to speak to as many of you as I can.....

ICOM SP23 to make it easy on my ears.

Hustler 6BTV and ground plane under the lawn has replaced it. Steep Q on 80m
