Hi I'm John a 80year old retired Peugeot Car Worker and I have been a licensed ham since 1984. I first became interested as a listener in 1980 when I purchased a B40 receiver, which weighed a ton! I then bought a FT101ZD. After taking my morse test at Highbridge Radio Station, near Burnham-on-Sea I bought the FT-757GX mark 2 cat. The antennas at that time were a 3 element beam and a 5 element vertical covering 160 to 6 meters and also a UHF and VHF beam. With this I managed to cover most of the world and spent many a happy hour on cw. In 1995 I closed down to pursue my other hobbies, one of which was fly fishing and also playing chess, gardening and computers, and last but not least line dancing! At Christmas 2008 I decided to work radio again and bought the FT897 multimode and the MFJ993B aerial tuner which I use for tuning in an end fed wire and I have since added the FT7800 Mobile. My antenna is a Watson W2000. I now work UHF and VHF, also CQ100, Skype and Echolink. I also recently purchased an Icom -E2820 which I use on D-Star as a Home Base and I have a Hand held IC-E91 which I use mobile. I have renewed many old acquaintances and hope to make many more. Since my last update I have acquired an IC7100 radio.and also a IC706MKIIG all mode transceiver for my car for which I have a multimode antenna.  I have just got a ic 7300 the antenna I have for it is a Long wire with mfj-993 tuner. I also have aprs.fi(G4wkb-10) and Id-31e raspberrypi Dvmega.  73's to all fellow hams.
