My Callsign reflects my first active time as a ham in the 1970s. I have returned to the hobby in my retirement.

I have spent a lifetime in engineering and my early enjoyment of building things led me into this hobby. Then I found that the radio service led me into further engineering interests.

I run an FDM-DUO in my main station feeding an F Loop. To be honest most of my time is SWLing as the local noise makes it difficult to get 'out'; however D-Star has made to world of difference (literally).

When mobile I use an 817_ND and, in 2m/70cm mode a Microset linear amplifier. I also have a KX3 running sometimes.

I have renewed my interest in RTTY and find PSK31 very rewarding. I never did learn Morse and have tried in the last coouple of years but my reactions are not quick enough.

My callsign image reflects my professional life on the railway (railroad) and I still enjoy running miniature steam locomotives.
