I got my call in 1973, at that time I was working for PYE Telecomms in Croydon, I got on the air using a PYE Bantam that I modified from am to fm driving through a home made PA to give 5 watts. Those were the days! I spent a lot of time on two meters SSB and also 70 cms. Moved in to Data comms and worked on the early secure voice systems, TSP 100 and the tempest version used by the US milatary. I was in charge of the secure data comms link from Brighton to London at SIA in London after the IRA tried to blow up Maggy Thatcher. Over saw the roll out of Big Bang at the UK Stock Exchange. 1989 I moved up to Lincolnshire where I worked for almost 20 years as a field service engineer for Mercury, later to become Page One and set up GB3 FJ and GB3 JF 70cms and 2 meter repeaters. I retired to Cornwall. When not playing radio with my IC 718 or IC 7200, I sail a Macwester Wight 30 motorsailer with IC 7200 and AT 120 installed.
