I have been licensed since September 1977. My wife, Janet, is also licensed as G8RHC but is very rarely active on the bands. We live in a small hamlet outside Salisbury with a reasonable take off to the south. I am QRV on the HF bands, 50 MHz,  70MHz, 144 MHz, and 10 GHz. My main interest is 144 MHz ssb. Recently I have become active using meteor scatter on 144MHz. I confess to collecting "squares" on an annual basis. I enjoy contesting with both the Cambridge & DARC (G2GX, G8EVY) and from the Salisbury area as part of the SADGITS team in the Practical Wireless 144 MHz QRP contest. I am occasionally QRV /P on 10 GHz using a homebuilt G3WDG 10 GHz transverter with ~ 300 mW output to an offset dish (system under construction/test-below). My current projects are setting up a 2m EME station and getting active on 23cm.

Currently, I have a  9 element Tonna for 144 MHz, a dual band Moxon for 50 & 70 MHz, a multiband doublet fed with 300 ohm ribbon and an 80m coaxially fed dipole.

Professionally, I am an emeritus professor based at St George's, University of London specialising in HIV vaccine research.
