A multi band two element delta loop beam. My setup covers 80m, 40m, 20m, 17m, 15, 12m 10m and 6m.

I get about 18 db front to back ratio on most bands. Signals from the side are just a whisper.

Not much forward gain on 40m but still a directional antenna. 80m the antenna acts like a vertical. A good recieving antenna on top band. I do not have any switches up top, control everything from the shack.

The remote tuner has only has 2 variable vacuum capacitors, 2 switches and a vairometer. Giving a low Swr on all bands.





I have a NOV for a 2M  Digital Voice Gateway in Aberdeen MB6ER . I have also set up a private SharkRF openSPOT network. Use your Dmr or Fusion radio to connect directly to the system and  the wires-x network. You can listen live to my Wires-X gateway, it usually sits in the CQ-UK Room.

Feel free to use the SharkRF Openspot network, full details and dashboard on website.


Take control of the Wires-x node and move from room to room by using a Yaesu radio with the wires-x function and connected to an openSPOT. Dmr Radios work on the network but you cannot control the Wires-x node.

Node will revert back to the CQ-UK ROOM if moved to an other room after 30 minutes.

Set up connectors as SharkRF IP Connector Client - Server address - Port: 65100 - Frequency 430.100 if you want to control Wires-x - C4FM

For testing purposes use rooms 41619 and 41729

XLX922 Reflector

I am now setting up a XLX Multi Protocol Reflector. This will link most modes together on one server. The Dstar reflector will be able to connect DMR and Fusion networks or hotspots.

Have been doing tests and the results have been great.


My version of the W3EDP consits of an Elinco Edx2 antenna tuner. 25m inverted L wire. A 10m and 5m radial, these are about 2m of the ground. Plus a ground wire which connects to an earth stake which has various buried lengths of wire connected to it.

Made up a small box with an on off switch with led  and a push button . this makes the alinco tune. This antenna works great on all bands from 160m to 6m.

This antenna  has transformed my 80m. I can now listen to all the ragchews from England, Ireland and Wales, lots of stations booming in at S9 +20. Transmit has gone up from S7 to S9+ on all bands.


The 25m length of wire goes up about 7m to the top of my mast and heads of towards nearby trees.

Stations in the  Pacific region can now be heard on 17m and 15m .

My magnetic loop has been constructed from parts bought mainly from Ebay.   Constructed from 3m of 67mm copper pipe and 8 45 degree elbows.

The vacuum capacitor is a 15 to 750 pf  5kv. I looked at various calculators on the design of the loop once the loop was constructed I found the one by AA5TB to be the most accurate.   

My magnetic loop will  transmit from 5mhz to 24mhz. The swr is low and flat through all bands. 

The magnetic loop is fed with a 4:1 balun.

The capacitor is adjusted with with a 12v geared motor, linked with gear wheels and a belt. I found an old satillite dish positioner and converted it to 12v , fixed 4 magnets on to one of the gear wheels and placed a reed swith close by. This system makes it very easy to change bands.

Working the world on HF Digital. Great on RX and TX.

My Russian  made amp has 2 GIB7 triodes. It covers 80m to 10m bands, on test into a 1kw dummy load it will  output 500 watts on most bands.



My boat is a 16 ft Microplas built 1965. Has a 30 hp outboard Marnier main engine, and a 5 hp parsun secondary outboard. 

Electronics consist of Lowrance hydraulic autopilot, Sonar Hub with Chirp Fish Finder and Structurescan, Radio with AIS and HDS Gen2 Chartplotter.
