(In light of some of the scams on the internet, please be aware that I'm not selling anything).

This photo of me and my wife Patricia, was taken at Chester race course during the summer of 2014.

My work background is instrumentation and control systems, safeguarding systems and engineering training. I spent my 38 year career in the oil and gas industry.

Now retired, I enjoy CW, (esp. ragchewing with 5W on 40m), fly fishing and photography.

BA (Hons), MEng (Hons)  MIET. I suppose my real alma mater is The Open University in the UK. Previously Licensed as G6CVK and A45WB - Worked/lived in Thailand, Oman and Sakhalin Island - I returned to amateur radio in the UK in 2009.

After a career in engineering and training in the fields of science and technology, I still enjoy technical writing and scientific discovery.

If you need some maths help for your licensing exams, take a look at my maths document here:

My other hobby: See Primary photo. Caterham Seven 154bhp  (& lightened flywheel), 0-60 mph 4.8s/top speed 127mph. Mazda diesel for the miles - Caterham for the smiles!

Member of GOGs Lotus/Caterham 7 Club in North Wales.

Member of HaWK DX Group

FISTS member 14068

Tutor for BBADL (Bath Based Advanced Distance Learning)

Station: I run 1- 400 watts to a rotary dipole on on the higher HF bands, a 4BTV for the HF bands and a 3 ele OWL yagi on 6m.

I love 6m in the summer, but it will be quite some years before I achieve a 6m DXCC!

For CW, I use a Begali Traveller (Magnetic) and a very special paddle key built by George G3TTN (now SK)

This key has a bronze base and brass mechanism, all gold plated. George built three of these keys, one for me, one for Sybil G4ZTN and one for himself, this was his last project before closing down his engineering workshop.
