HI, my name is Alessandro and I live in Rome.

I got my OM licence in 1976 when I was 18 years old, the call was I0KTH.

But many year lasted and I didn't use it, so the call become obsolete and it was retired by the Italian Authority.

Finally in 2014 when I was 57 the interest in radio arose again and I got the new call IZ0WRS.

In may 2015 finally I purchased an FT817, a dual band 144-432 Yagi, built a lightweight multiband dipole (6-20) and started my portable QRP activity.

Going around on Internet I found an italian award WxM (Watt per Miglio - Watt for Mile - the highest QRB with the lower possible power), and immediately I liked it very much, because in this way I can enjoy my different interests all together: motorbike, mountain trekking, and radio.

So now I am going around to activate the WxM mountain in central Italy; where a summit is also a SOTA summit I will participate to both WxM and SOTA.

13 October 2017 - Monte Soratte 700 m - WxM I/LZ-058 - SOTA I/LZ-144

Sunny and hot!! New Italian SOTA Reference!!

07 October 2017 - Monte Autore 1850 m - WxM I/LZ-001 - SOTA I/LZ-301

01 October 2017 - Monte Gennaro - WxM I/LZ-012 - SOTA I/LZ-055

30/04/2017 - Monte Cotento 2014 m - JN61QV - WxM LZ-004 - SOTA LZ-302

Anoter challenging QRP activation! Nice weather and fantastic views!!

The upper antenna is a VHF DRV (Doppio Rettangolo Verticale - Double Vertical Rectangle): two lambda loops horizontal polarization - performances like a 4 el yagi, but really simple to carry, to mount and to operate in mountain.

The lower antenna is a 70 cm little Moxon; it is not a monster but today I made  a 200 km QRB with 1W.

22/02/2017 - Colle Iano 938 m - JN61IS - WxM reference I/LZ-040

A short walk to enjoy two hours on air, max QRB 2000 km (SM5OMP thank you) with 1W and inverted V dipole.

29/01/2017 - Monte Cerella 1205 m - JN61LW - WxM reference I/LZ-063

QRPp experience, using a 20-10-7-3 dB homemade attenuator I got some QSOs with QRB about 60 km running only 5mW and also lower power.

Starting a new QRPp career?

08/12/2016 - Monte Cerella 1205 m - JN61LW - WxM reference I/LZ-063
