Thank you for taking the time to look up my callsign.
Born in Milan on July, 23rd, 1945.
Since I was in elementary school I have been interested in radio communications, experimenting with crystal receivers and then with tube receivers.
After a scientific address high school I was called into the Army where I became radio operator from 1964 until 1966.
In the 1969 I earned my Ships Operator First Class Certificate.
From 1970 until 1985 I worked as Radio Officer mainly on big crude oil carriers.
In the picture above the T/T Anita Monti (ship's callsign ICKS), one of the vessels of Europa s.p.a. Società Generale d'Armamento, where I worked many years.
After GMDSS (Global Marine Distress Safety System) equipment eliminated the profession of radio operator on board of merchant vessels, I begun to enterprise an activity of my own in the field of industrial controls and then in the electronic systems for the yacht industry where I still work.
My rig is: Icom IC-756 PRO III.
23m long wire driven by an AH-4 antenna tuner;
Inverted Vee dipole 20/10m east - west oriented.
I operate exclusively in CW (very seldom in other modes) using my preferred 1916 Blue Lightning Vibroplex or other Vibro from my collection, a formidable vertical Swedish key or, especially during contests, my old ETM-3 automatic keyer with a Schurr paddle.
