Hi! So many thanks for looking me up.
The Japanese Reflector INFORMATION : Since 17th August 2011, we can use Reflector 008 for the first Japanese Reflector. But from Japan, we must use DV Dongle or node adapter to be connected to Reflectors. We cannot use link command on RF access from Japan. The second Japanese Reflector, Reflector 047, is operational from 24th August 2011. The new Japanese D-STAR era began. Reflector 064 is available (March 2014) as the third Japanese reflector. 9th January 2015, Reflector 071 is running as the fourth Japanese Reflector. Reflector 076 is avaiable now (1st April 2016) as the 5th Japanese reflector.
I can operate on all bands between 1.9MHz and 1.2GHz, and SSB, FM, CW, D-STAR (DV, DD), WiRES-X (C4FM) modes. But I live in a large condominium building where my flat/apartment is on the 12th floor. When I go on HF bands, I use an automatic antenna tuner, a wire antenna stretched along fishing rod and low power. It is therefore difficult to contact DX stations on HF bands with my current setup.
For this reason, I started to use D-STAR and EchoLink (Node number is 333946.). Recently some stations I contacted via EchoLink spoke to me on Skype after QSOs. Since October 2014, I open WiRES-X NODE, #12218. My ROOM is #22218. Now, I can use C4FM digital mode.
There is a difference in the D-STAR gateway program between Japan and DX. In Japan, we cannot use G2 extended software and DPlus on D-STAR. Also ircDDB gateway users and xReflector users cannot talk with Japanese G1 gateway users. So, when you use reflector, link command, DV Access Point Dongle or DV Dongle, you cannot access to Japanese D-STAR repeaters. In past days, in order to contact with DX D-STAR stations, they had to program their URCALL setting with "/JP4YDUA" or "/JP4YDUB". However, the JARL (The Japan Amateur Radio League, Inc.) had announced that, from 13th July 2009, we can use the other station's call sign for URCALL setting. We can use call sign routing system.
On weekend, I'm monitoring JP4YDU port A & B (Hiroshima D-STAR repeater) with control software and JP4YDX port A (Iwakuni D-STAR repeater). Please come to JP4YDU, JP4YDX, JA4NYY-NODE (#12218) or JA4NYY-ROOM (#22218).
Best 73 & 88,
JA4NYY Kohji TANAKA 田中浩二
Miyajima Island, one of the most scenic spots in Japan, has long been regarded as an Island of Gods on the beautiful Seto Inland Sea. It is a romantic and historical island where Itsukushima Shrine, a World Heritage site, is located, along with the Virgin Forest of Mt. Misen, and numerous preserved shrines, temples and historical monuments.
“Itsukushima Shrine” The only shrine in the world to have been built over the surface of the sea. As the entire island of Miyajima was regarded as deity, no shrine could be built there. Instead, a shrine was built over the water of a cove. At high tide, the shrine appears to be floating on the water, while at low tide it is possible to approach the shrine on foot along the beach.
