I have been interested in electronics since Junior High School days in the 1940's. I attended the Army Signal Corps School at Fort Monmouth, NJ in 1946 and was enrolled in the Radio Operator class. After college and seminary I resumed my interest in ham radio, thanks to my Elmer, the late Lloyd Tysdal, W7FSP. I got my Conditional License in 1955 while living in Dillon, Montana. My call was W7ZLP. When I moved to Minnesota in 1957 my call was changed to K0IUC, the call I have at present. For over forty years my main interest in ham radio has been chasing DX. At my last QTH I had one "entity" left to work. At my present retirement community QTH I have worked over 160 entities with just 100 watts and an "invisible" dipole. I have enjoyed weekly skeds with friends around the country, some of which I have kept for over 40 years. In retirement I have more time to devote to the hobby, although other interests also take my time: reading and family history. Its a great hobby and I've met a lot of nice people. My two sons are also hams.
