Had many Elmers back in my bicycle peddling days when I was 12/13.  Ted, W0YTY gave me my Novice test, but all other upgrades and testing were administerd by the Engineer in Charge of FCC Dist. 15. in Denver, CO.  No multiple choice questions.  All test questions required essay type answers and drawing from scratch at least 3 different schematics.  I  hold a "KnowCode" (20wpm) Extra,  Other Elmers who were a big help throughout were Betty, W0TYB,  Rog, W0NNI,  Karl, W0WO,  Jack, W0TAD ( all SKs now) and my best friend and classmate in high school Ronnie, K0LMD.   I am the Trustee for W5CP. And I hold multiple Commercial Tickets. GROL PG-GB-003271 and FCC 2nd Class Radiotelegraph T2-GB-004919. I am also a W5YI VE for Commercial Radio Services CE16859,Hold a MSEE in Communications Technology & PhD Radio and Television Broadcast Engineering.  I Was self employed as Chief Engineer at Z-Comm Technology & Engineering Services taking care of over 35 AM/FM/TV stations in a six state area. ( Now retired as of Feb, 2006 ). Board Member and Co-Founder of The Bighorn Museum of Amateur Radio (K5FJ) with much help from Lee, K0LT (SK) and Chuck, WB0JLP (SK).    Co-Founder and 1st President of The Mile High DX Association (1974) along with OGs WB0LEX, WB0IWL (SK), WB0NFY, W0AEE (SK), WB0HAD, K0VVV (SK) and W0CGR (SK).   Currently President of The Eastco DX Society (W5CP).   I have recently moved from my Texas QTH to my Colorado QTH after retiring once again.  This time from Texas Tech University as an Adjunct Professor in the EE Dept. Favorite operating mode CW.  Chasing DX and new prefixes and County Hunting, I  Still play with Contests, but no longer a serious contester!  I do enjoy State QSO Parties and try to make them all.

Other activity:  My 1982 427 Corvette................ and playing  my much modified  vintage  1954 B2 Hammond organ , along with a long host of emulators, sequencers, arpeggiators, arrangers, synthesizers and a Neve 5315 32X2 board.   OK.........I was at one time a very busy studio musician and engineer.  In the photo below is my homebrew Lowreyzilla.  It uses Hammond keyboards and Grohl emulators, a Hammond 150w pre amp driving a Pyle 3KW amp.  Speakers are Leslie 122s and 147s.  Sub woofer is a 18" 200w Peavy.  It WILL rattle the windows!  Also pictured is a Yamaha Tyros III, a Korg Presidio, and a 25 key M-Audio arranger.  Note the 5 floor pedals used for octave changing and activation of voice emulators.

WILLOW my CW loving Nebelung Patrona  (Long hair Russian Blue).  She will curl up for hours listening to CW contests.   Many years ago, George, W0UA, gave one of my cats a vanity call sign, (ME0W) when she jumped up on my desk during a contest and meowed into the mic tripping the VOX.  George came back with a very snappy "ME0W  59 Colorado."  Every cat I have had since uses that call!  ,,,>^_^<,,,
