I got back into radio a couple of years ago and am enjoying connecting with more and more people on the air. I've always loved the idea of radio communications, but my interest exploded as a Civil Air Patrol cadet when I was younger. Airplanes and radios, what more could you ask for? Over the years, I've used radios for basic communication (firefighting and flying), but I also wanted to use them to experiment, contact far away places, and just to have fun. In January of 2014, I attained the ham license I had thought about so many years earlier. The addiction took over...I am now an "extra" and helped my entire household get licensed.

You might find me on 80m, 40m, 20m, 15m, 10m, 6m, 2m, 70cm, or D-Star. This radio thing is really taking off, there is so much to explore, learn, and challenge yourself with.  I am loving HF!!! I enjoy making phone contacts, working some of the digital modes, and now I am learning CW. Additionally, I volunteer with SKYWARN, ARES, and as a VE.

Some of my interests include: motorcycling, flying, aviation in general, weather, kayaking, hiking, snowshoeing, acoustic guitar, firefighting (former), military and US history, hanging out with my wife (K1ABY) and boys (K1GTR , K7IPY), and of course radio communication.  (Photos below)

If you can't catch me on the air, feel free to drop me an email.

(ATTN: NEW HAMS - If you are just getting into radio, don't be shy. There many great people in the hobby that are willing to extend a hand and help you get to where you want to go. Just like in life, if you run into a couple of bad apples along the way, don't let them discourage you. The hobby and this world are so much bigger than they are and there is more than enough room for you to spread your wings and soar.)
