My interest in Ham Radio started as a child - the thrill of hearing voices over the air from far distances. My grandmother got rid of her old Farnsworth and was my SWL radio de jour for many years until it died. But it wasn't until 1994 that I finally received my "ticket" as N3TLJ. Later I succumbed to vanity and received my vanity and current callsign of K3URT.

I operate largely using PSK31 but you can hear my voice and some CW (Bencher straight key - but sometimes I use a software program - I'm not proficient enough) in contests.

RIG: Yaesu FTDX-3000D; with MFJ 949E tuner.

ANTENNAS: My main Antenna is a 43 meter long inverted V Doublet with 450 Ohm ladder line, 8 meters high at apex, 7 meters at the ends. (I don't believe in amplifiers so I never go over 100 watts on voice and 45 watts digital.) I also use an Chamleon EMCOMM II - works great for a little wire antenna! Cushcraft 3 element beam for 6 meters. A quarter wave for 2 meter FM and a 4/8 element dual band antenna for SSB 2 meter and 70 centimeters.

FLDIGI for digital modes.

COMPUTER: Apple Macintosh iMac (late 2009 model).

QSL policy: I response to all requests - 100%! I prefer  eQSL.cc; direct; LoTW; Bureau. I can also email you a card, but send the appropriate verification information. I like collecting QSL cards. SWLers please send a SASE or use the Bureau.

I am retired now (2015) from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Data Management Analysis (primarily a database manager for SAP and Oracle). Former US Air Force regular, 1975-80. Two daughters and four grandchildren keep me busy.

When I'm not on the radio, I'm in my garden or researching family history or hanging out with my grandchildren. smiley
