I was first licensed as a novice as WN3KPP in 1967 at the age of 15 and upgraded to general about 6 months later with the call WA3KPP. I have always had an interest in operating CW. I spent many years operating VHF/UHF as part of a contesting group with the call of K3MTK. We operated from a high location in the Pocono mountains and ran many June VHF contests from there.
I took a break from the hobby for a few years and when I came back, I got into serious HF contesting. I upgraded to Extra and got my current vanity call of K3ZV. I joined the Frankford Radio Club and have operated from some of the clubs biggest stations (N3AD, K3NM, N2RM, K2AX). I still enjoy CW much more than phone contesting.
I am now residing in Summerfield, Fl in grid square EL99AA. The shack has been paired down. I have a Softrock transceiver for 40-30-20 meters using the rain gutter around the house for an antenna. I am using the softrock for WSPR and JT65-JT9 on 20 meters. The 1/2 watt from the Softrock has been heard in Europe on 20 meters using WSPR and up into Canada on JT65. Hope to have a small amp running soon.
