I got my tech ticket in Feb. 2015. KM4IBS. (kilo mike four irritable bowel syndrome) thanks FCC.

Vanity callsign issued on 6 Nov 2015. I am now K4FNG (a throwback to my Army days).

I upgraded to general on 14 Nov. 2015

OMISS# 10549   (http://omiss.net)
100 Watts and a wire # 196   (http://100wattsandawire.com)

I am a member of the Richmond Amateur Radio Club (http://rarclub.net/)
I enjoy the Central Virginia 6 meter SSB net (http://www.50215.net). very friendly folks, I am working toward becomming a member.  I am also an ARRL member.

I upload to eQSL and LotW             I do not have a QSL card yet., but I'm looking into it.

After passing my upgrade I came home and switched on the rig and tuned around on my newly allocated frequencies. I heard someone was calling CQ so I made my first HF contact as K4FNG/AG with K4TG from Anderson county, Kentucky on  7.218MHz. Jerry, thank you for the contact.

On 5 Mar 2016, I made my first DX contact with 5Q1A in Denmark. This was during the ARRL DX SSB contest. I logged 39 contacts working very casually during the event. My longest QSO was 4947 miles (7956 KM). This QSO was with U6AF in Russia. Not too bad for 100W and a wire.

My rig is a "shack-in-a-box" consisting of an icom IC7100, MFJ autotuner and a 30W switching power supply. It is the image at the top of this page. My antenna is a Buckmaster multiband ocfd. I also have some handhelds. An icom ID51, an icom IC-V80Sport, and my very first HT a Baofeng UV-5R.

... studying for the extra upgrade.

I hope to talk to you soon on the air. thanks for visiting my page.
