I was first licensed in the state of Maine as WN1KVY in the late sixties followed by WA1KVY after upgrading. While living in upstate NY during the '80s I held the call KI2P. The primary Amateur interests include CW, DXing, Contesting, QRP, kit building and restoring vintage gear. I am involved with Summits on the Air and serve as manager for the W4V (Virginia) association. Information about Summits on the Air can be found at their web site. http://www.sota.org.uk

Besides radio, in no particular order, I enjoy canoeing, running and hiking.

I have been an airline pilot for 30+ years and currently fly as captain on the Boeing 757/767, mostly on European routes.  Occasionally you may hear me operating K4QS/AM.

The home station includes a Elecraft K3 tranceiver with a KPA500 amplifier, a Drake C Line, a Elecraft KX3 as a back up. A a fleet of small trail friendly rigs is ready to choose from for SOTA activations.  Antennas include a 3 Element SteppIR with 40/30M rotating dipole @ 75ft., an Inverted Vee for 80m @ 72ft. and a vertical for local VHF/UHF work.  The tower is a US Towers HDX572MDPL motorized crack up / tilt over.
