Hello and maybe I just worked you (or you heard me) on the bands. Great!

I received my novice license in 1978 and upgraded to General, Advanced and Extra class all in 1980. Back then in North Texas all exams were given at the federal building in downtown Dallas, room 13E7.  This place was like a time capsule from the 1950’s and I was a teenager. The only sounds I remember were the creaking of the old wooden desks, footsteps of the proctor pacing the rows (no way was I going to cheat, probably meant FED time in Kansas) and the examiner saying pass or fail. He had a certain Nurse Rachet disposition. Twas intimidating and not what I was use to.       Sorry, just relived that moment from 40 years ago as I am typing this. So I did pass my extra and was issue call sign KN5E. The 1996 vanity gate opened and I choose K5AV.

In July 2017 I finally installed a Yagi antenna, the 'Navassa 5' by JK antennas. The tower is a self supporting 55' crank up mast style with 3 sections. Thank you Jenks, K5YNZ and Uncle Gary, BR549.

My primary radio is a JRC JST-145, 100 watts. No amp here!

Operate mostly CW on the low bands.

Dusk shot. Venus bombing the pic...

Keepin it simple. JRC JST 145 transceiver w/speaker and Daiwa rotor control. Bencher paddle and no amp,  yet. Let me get beat out in a few more piles and then I might go north of 100 watts!

My lil helpers!

Wife and I out and about but can't remember where this was taken...?
