Resuming regular operations on the air in beautiful Kingsport, TN. - new station pictures.  Dropped the 5 area call and picked up a 4 area call that reflects the city I have come to embrace as home.  C(K)alling 4 KingsPorT.

QTH is sited at 1,550 feet ASL on the side of a 1,600+ foot hill overlooking the Holston River Valley.  Situated in a small community on the outskirts of Kingsport with the Clinch Mountain range behind me on the Virginia side of the state line.

Left Houston, TX in late June, 2017 to search for a new home in the East TN, VA area and ended up buying here in Kingsport.  I could go on and on about what a nice place Kingsport is to live, smiling faces, fun fest, wonderful downtown, moderate climate, beautiful views, bike friendly, easy to shop and get around, etc., but then too many people might move here and spoil it.

Had a background in AM/FM and internet broadcasting and BCB/SWL'ing before becoming an amateur radio operator. Cannot even imagine how many hours I spent listening on that Kenwood R-5000 over 26 years and logging 2,800+ broadcast stations.  Other hobbies are gardening, travel, cycling, movie collecting, industrial and furniture design. I also spend time buying and selling on Craigslist and Habitat for Humanity.  I enjoy working with Linux and open source software, scripting and building custom desktop environments.

Now have a dedicated radio room with a view to the left of the hills on the other side of the Holston River Valley and the back yard on the right.

Station layout has been simplified.  Using a Ten-Tec Orion II and Heil PR-781 microphone with an Elecraft KPA500 amplifier and the matching KAT500 antenna tuner.  Back on HF with all new antenna hardware and feed line to a 132 foot longwire.

Main HF antenna is an end fed 80 M half wave (My Antennas EFHW-8010-2K) from the carport fed at 15 feet supported by a 100 foot sasafras tree at about 80 feet high on the far end.

Using a DX Engineering RF-PRO-1B Active Magnetic Loop Antenna mounted on a tripod in the back yard for BCB/160 M/80 M/40 M/SWL and diversity receive on other amateur bands. Works extremely well to cut the noise and adds directionality to receive on the lower bands.

VHF/FM rig is a Kenwood TM281A into a roof mounted Diamond Antenna CP22E Base Station antenna on a
35 foot Rhon mast.

Mostly chat in the morning with groups that keep religion and politics out of the discussion and listen to
HF most of the rest of the time.  My take on the whole religion/politics thing is it does not fit into the Amateur
Radio Operator's Code because it is divisive ...  not inviting.  A true gentleman on the air would not say
things to lessen to lessen the pleasure of others.  There is plenty of that on AM talk radio.

Try to keep the following net / group schedules depending on band conditions, etc.:

3.610 MHz at 6:30 AM EST - The 3610 Friendly Extra Class Club
7.153 MHz at 8:00 AM EST - Treasure Coasters (56 years old net)
7.203 MHz at 9:00 AM EST - Memphis Area Roundtable
14.318 MHz at 10:30 AM EST - PJ Group

3.863 MHz at 8:00 PM EST - The Friendly Bunch (occasionally)

Always monitoring the 2 M simplex calling frequency and repeaters for some interesting conversation.

New station layout "Serenity One" pictured in the Kingsport, TN QTH.  Have to do something about that
rotator control box.

The front office, "Linux Work Area", in the Kingsport QTH very relaxing actually.
