Hello and thank you for looking me up. I'm a new ham, getting into the hobby because of the love of technology and new challenges. I've been involved with radio using scanners on and off for many years, but I finally made the transition from listening to actually talking on the airwaves. I wish I had done it earlier.
My family takes up most of my time nowadays, but I do get on the radio 20 minutes here and 30 minutes there for the purpose of making quick contacts. I'm not much of a ragchewer.
I log my contacts to eQSL and LoTW and hope you do the same, as I'm interested in going for some awards. It'll be a slow progress for me due to my limited time on the radio and my setup, but I'll get there.
I use an ICOM IC-7100, with an Chameleon EMCOMM-II end-fed antenna, and an SM-50 desk microphone. These days it seems I'm mostly limited to 20, 40 and 80m based on my setup and current conditions. Hopefully I'll slowly improve my setup for better progression on the ARRL challenges.
I also like the digital aspect of ham radio so I play around with D-STAR, and I'm working on setting up an ID-51a Plus2 hand-held on Terminal Mode to access reflectors. I'm also trying to work HF using the D-STAR digital mode.
