I have been a ham since 1960 (KN4YBX), and enjoy all modes of operation. PSK, DSTAR and DSTAR HF are my current favorites, but I have fun with slow CW. I operate analog FM, DSTAR, and C4FM (node # 11723) on VHF/UHF.
I retired from the University of North Texas in 2014, where I was a member of the Biological Sciences faculty and dean of the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science.
Additionally, I was trustee of the academy ham club, W5UNT. I got to play ham radio at work!
The photos show the K5YBX antenna farm.
Yes, it does snow in Texas!
I use a Flex 6700 to which a ThumbDV is added for DSTAR HF. The antenna for 10 - 40 is a Force 12 C4E. Above that is a Cushcraft D3W rotatable dipole for 12, 17, 30. The top antenna is a Cushcraft log periodic for VHF and UHF. A 43-foot DX Engineering vertical is used for 60M and 80M.
Argyle is a "country suburb" of Dallas and Fort Worth. All my neighbors have horses, but I have antennas. Cheaper to feed.
