I received my Novice License in 1954 and my General License in 1955.  Soon after went to the University of Utah and after graduation to flight school at Williams AFB, AZ.  With a family, the Air Force and moving every two to three years it was difficult keeping amateur radio going so have been out of it for many years.  Got back into it in the spring of 2015.  I received my Extra License in Oct 2015.  I mainly operate CW but I'm not adverse going SSB or RTTY for contests and in the pursuit of DXCC.

I spent 20 years in the Air Force flying the T-37 (I instructed pilot training for two years at Moody AFB, Valdosta, Ga.), the T-33 and the C-130 at various bases around the world.  I spent considerable time in Viet Nam where I flew 351 combat missions.  Last posting was at the Pentagon.  After retirement from the AF I worked at several occupations finishing up with a teaching and examining position at the Salt Lake Community College.  I'm retired for good now.  Retirement is great but the pay is not so good.  I am a member of the Davis County Amateur Radio Club and the Utah DX Association (UDXA).

I have the best elmer in the amateur radio hobby, Bob Carter, WR7Q.  He has been tireless in bringing me up to speed in the hobby not to mention the many times he has been to my home putting up my tower/antennas and fixing my balky computer.  He is a really great guy.

I operate the following equipment: K3s, Yaesu FTdx1200 with an Ameritron AL-811 amplifier, a 40 ft tower with a  Hexbeam.

As you can see, we have some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world.  I live in Bountiful, Utah with my wife Evelyn and four grandkids ages 12 to 14.  We like to go camping, boating and fishing at the various lakes/reservoirs in Utah.
