My handle is Beetle (Last Name is Bailey, flew F4s in the US Air Force, go figure).

Just a quick background on me; I'm 63 and a fairly new Ham; Tech and General in April 2016 and Extra in Sept 2016.  I have a FT-1000D, TS930S, and TenTec Jupiter transceivers for HF using a Hygain AV640. I've also acquired and refurbished HeathKit; Tuner, Amplifier(SB200), and Oscilloscope. I have plans for a 40 ft Tower with inverted V dipole and HexBeam antenna. Our Beagle Foxxie liked hanging out when I was on the 2 Meter. :)

I'm a member of the Green Valley Amateur Radio Club and live in the foothills of the Santa Rita Mountains in Southern Arizona on 5 1/2 acres. I'm also an avid wood turner, welder, woodworker, and pilot. My hobbies and our ranch keep us busy.

Living in Southern Arizona, I have focused a great deal of woodturning with the Mesquite Tree found on our ranch. You can see more of my woodturnings at my website http://www.mesquitebeetle.com/

I'm also retired from the USAF, flew F-4s (the reason I go by Beetle). My USAF background includes Tactical Reconnaissance in the RF4C, Operational Flight Test, Automated Mission Planning Development, and C2 Battle Management.

We've been in our dream home for over 5 years which is located in the foothills of the Santa Rita Mountains in Southern Arizona.  We're on 5 1/2 acreas at 4000 ft MSL and enjoy city views of the Tucson Valley, Southern AZ mountains and wildlife that includes Mountain Lions, Deer, Bobcats, Coyotes, Foxes, and dozens of bird life.

My wife and I, with help from a great friend built our airplane, an RV7A. It took 3 1/2 years and we've been flying it since 2005. It cruises at 200 MPH and is aerobatic. It's a great aircraft for rooting around the Southern Arizona Desert or packing up and heading back East (over 20 trips in 11 years).  Also checkout my videos on flying low level in the Southern Arizona Desert and formation with good friends. I have some special videos below but you can also go to my website (http://www.mesquitebeetle.com/) and view both my Aviation Videos as well as persue my woodturning pages. Enjoy!

Welcome to my Aviation hobby. Miss Pam and I built our RV7A over 12 years ago and still enjoy the freedom of flight. Hope you enjoy some of our favorite videos we've made through the years. Just Click on the Link and Let's Go Fly!

I also enjoy astrophotography.  I have a Celestron CPC 800 using hyperstar image stacking processes.  These two images were taken from my backyard in Southern Arizona.
