Hellowink - Thanks for visiting my QRZ bio page, smiley

To give you a little background, I am a father of seven children, angeland a grandfather of 16 heart. Our four youngest children, who are newly married, of only a few years, aren't quite done, multipying and replensishing the earth, so there are more grandchildren yet to come and allow our family's numbers to continue to grow.  Also this year my eldest granddaughter married and nearly a month later was informed that they are expecting their first.  Oh... gosh this means.... I'm going to be a Great Grandfather!  Man... time does fly by!surprise

Through the years, I had a neighbor or two who kindly introduced me to Ham.yes The first time I was only 8 years old in 1966. Then again, in the early 70's another neighor gave me a tour of his radio shack. Which then opened the door for me to love to use the two-way radio since I was 15 years old. But those days were with Licenced 11 meter radio (CB) and later on into Business Band, and Aviation, as a student pilot (For a total of 45 yrs in radio so far).

Then no sooner had I moved to Spanish Fork, in 1997, my neighbor WV7P gave me a tour of his great shack and was giving me the nudge here and there. But my sweet wife of 15 years, at that time, thought HAM radio was too expensive, so I wasn't allowed to get my dream back then.  We've been married now for 35 years.

Just over seven years ago our church asked me to be a member of their Emergency Radio Communications, so then I had the perfect excuse to get my HAM Radio. I received my ticket on 19th of May 2010. Then five months later, I became a General Amateur on the 10th of October, 2010.

Continuing to work on my classification within Amateur Radio, I earned my Amateur Extra Class on December 17th, 2011. The more exciting news is that my wonderful wife got her ticket, just a week before my birthday, on the 21st of September, 2011. This made me feel so pleased and happy to have her on the air as KF7RUR.  Then in November of 2012 I dropped the "F" in my orginal call and got my vanity. My old call was KF7KGK.

I am so happy to be on the air with such fantastic friendly people. Presently, I am a member of ARRL, UARC, Utah VHF Society, Spanish Fork Utah East Stake EmComm Net, Utah Valley Amateur Radio Club, and the UARC 76'ers.

If you're in my area give me a shout. You can use IRLP Node #3352 or Echo-Link Node #703269 most times during the day.

I monitor 146.760(Neg Offset & No Tone) almost all day long.  Unless my buddies have QSY'd me to another frequency. LOL

Inside my Radio Shack, I use a Yaesu FT7900r for VHF/UHF, pictured below, and I also own an ICOM IC-746 for HF communications.  Also use an 11 Meter Side-band with my Uniden Bearcat 980-SSB and I dab in Digital Mobile Radio or DMR. To do DRM,  I use my CS-700 Hand-Held radio (pictured below) for this type of communication.  My main power supply is an Alinco DM-330MV and I have two scanners, but the one I appreciate the most is my Uniden Bearcat BCT8 - a very fast scanner. I power up my 11 Meter Bearcat 980SSB with a Pyramid power supply.  Recently, I just added a 220 Band rig to my collection.  It is an Alinco DR-235 Mk III.  Just love it and it's a lot of fun.

My HF tuner is a LDG AT-100Pro II Auto-Tuner and I use my Diamond SX-400 to ensure my VHF/UHF radio is working properly.  The headset with a boom mic, below, is a Proset by Heil which I really like using for HF operations.  But my wife truly appreciates it more because listening to HF is like someone scratching a calk board and drives her absolutely crazy.  It seems to do this to a lot of women.

And hopefully when you're reading this you are having a great day.

Thank you for dropping by - here's a big smiley and 73!
