Hello fellow Amateur Radio operators,

My name is Mike and I currently live in a suburb of Milwaukee, Wi. called Muskego.  I enjoy talking with all the ham radio operators out there. K9BBN started out as KD9ANE in the spring of 2014...

Some of the nets I like to check into is the Farmers net "3.985 mhz" (8:00 -9:30 CST)(both parents grew up on the farm, Mother in Lone Rock, Wi and Father in Fargo, ND)  Another net is the YL-System "14.332 mhz", Milwaukee-Florida Net, along with the Maritime Mobile Net "14.300 mhz".  The Nut Net are great folks mostly in the Wisconsin area.  OMISS #10225

MFJ-993B IntelliTuner    LP-100A     SG-230 Smartuner      Choke for my G5RV       Entertainment for the YL

I've been retired since 2010 from Milwaukee Public Schools.  I worked in the IT Dept for 22+ years.  My first radio I ever had and assembled was a Crystal Radio... which I'm sure many of us also constructed years back... they're still avaiable today!

I've installed an Icom ID -5100 in my 33 foot Silverton, and just recently added the Icom Marine M802-11 with the Icom 140 coupler/tuner and a SGC vertical 9' whip.  Along with that I have a TNC Pactor 3 for email and weather faxes.  I connect with WLO for phone patches when out in the Islands with no cellular service.

Getting ready to splash for recommissioning...
My Lucky Wisconsin Packer "Ham" Pig-not so lucky this year :-(

When my YL retires in 2016 we'll be jumping on the boat and circumnavigating the east coast of the United States, taking about 2 years to complete.   I enjoy talking to everyone on HF, vhf/uhf/1.25 Meters and on D-Star...  My first HF radio (12/5/2014) that I picked up was from QRZ.com, a FT-450  That radio is now in Texas, sold to another ham operator on 4/10/2015 for portable operation in his camper and now I'm running a Kenwood TS-590 SG.    I had a 20 meter dipole up in the attic which worked just "OK" on most frequencys.  Picked up a SG-230 Coupler and will be trying to improve my antenna setup soon! Currently I have a Diamond CP6AR up about 30' and I find that the noise level has gone way down compaired to the inside 20 meter diapole in the attic.  I'm working on a Mosley TA-33-JR that I'm reconditioning.  Should be up soon!

Mail me a QSL card and I'll be glad to return one! (unless I beat you to it :-)

I enjoy woodworking as well.... Here's my Barrel Back Bar I built after joining The Antique & Classic Boat Society so I could replicate a true Chris Craft build. The mahogany wood that makes the curve on both sides was steam bent to make the radius.  The table top was made for one of the South Shore Yacht Club members to use on his boat.  One other project was to make a storage chest for the boat, so here's a Camel Back storage chest made of birds eye maple, curly cherry and umbila woods (maybe we'll make this the booze & wine locker  :-)

That's a little history of myself and I hope to talk to you down the road, river or ocean in 2016 or before!

73'

Mike
