Frank here! I have been a ham since 1972, when at the age of 15 when I received my novice call WN9MMT thanks to Dave Abell, K6XG who at that time was a physics instructor at my high school. Dave was kind enough to offer morse code classes to the student body before the start of class a few days a week.
I became interested in ham radio after watching my father W9JXB talk around the world.
I was blessed to have use of my dad's station with a 3 element beam at 32 feet and countless wire antennas. My novice rig was a Collins 32V2 tuned to 75W input and a Hallicrafters SX-111. It was a great DX station at the time.
My love of electronics developed out of this wonderful hobby and took me in the direction of electronic engineering.
