I was first licensed in 1987 as KA9ZTA.

In '89, I upgraded to General (N9IUO) in spite of one of the other candidates literally "losing it" in the session (It was awesome....). Then, realizing that General was far too restrictive, I studied again and got the Advanced a few months later.

There was a long gap between Advanced and Extra. I actually got my Extra in 2003 and yes, I did it "post-code," which takes away just a touch of the magic. (I attempted to pass my Extra several years prior to that, after a long night out with friends and three hours of sleep; computing CW under those conditions, at least for me, was impossible)

As of April, 2016, I am now running an A4S on a 52' crank-up / tilt-over, with a DX-B sloper. The radio is an 857D and the amp is the tried and true SB220.

To keep myself from getting morbidly obese sitting in front of the radio, I continue to practice martial arts as I've done since I was a kid. I've managed to keep things from snapping and tearing in my 40's, so that's been a plus.

I've been bouncing around in the Bio Tech industry for the last several years, moving to Maryland in 2007, California in 2010 and now back home as of 2013.

With no association woes at my current location and no height restrictions, it will be tough to pry me out of here, but I might be good for one or two more moves.

Family is #1, here. I'm grateful they understand my radio sickness.

Oh, yes, my country count. Stickers issued for 325. 330 confirmed and 331 worked.

Still a ways to go!

Last but not least, I am a very proud member of:
