1ST licensed June 1956. 1st rig was army suplus.  Quickly move up to a Heathkit DX35 and Hammarland HQ140. BSEE from Case Western Reserve University Cleveland, Ohio. Retired from Lucent Technologies formerly AT&T & Western Electric, as an Engineering Director after 37 Years of service.  

Enjoy cooking, fishing on Lake Texhoma, my JD tractor & Z245, and golf with XYL-Kathleen... Share the 70cm overland analog ATV DX record with W9ZIH at 643 miles. RTTY/PSK31 & JT65. Enjoyed the AO-40, HEO, satellite with a 1.2 ghz 100 Watt uplink and 2.4ghz downlink until it went silent, rag chewing on 160 Meters, and DXing. Have 5BDXCC, and ARRL #1 honor Roll (340/352).    Tripple Play Award # 171 and 1st place VHF/UHF 432 MHZ Oklahoma Section.  Route 66 "On The Air" clean sweep(s).

DXing now with a 3EL SteppIR that tunes 7 thru 54 MHZ, and a 40' Gap Voyager for 160/80/40 meters.  ENJOY the FMTs (Frequency Measuring Tests, by K5CM),  Measuring to, +/- 0.001 CYCLES. 

The Alpha 77, formerly a PA70-V, serial #129, was picked up at an OKC Hamfest in 1987. Restoration included New: Hypersil power transformer and associated high voltage capacitor & diodes, bandswitch, 8877, meter faces,  high voltage choke to eliminate parasitics, and squirrell cage blower to replace the vapor cooling assembly..  

Son, James, is licensed as N5TKS.

Now participating in the CQ DX MARATHON for the 4th year, and hope to better my 2014 score of  304 which placed me #1 in the 5th call area.
