I was licensed in 1958 as KN9MDQ. I am probably more of a tinkerer than a talker. My early interests were 6m (am) and vhf in general. I build a lot of my early equipment, and was active on 6m am during the early 60's. I abandoned 6m when the technicians got 2m because of extreme problems with fringe area channel 2; 56-60 mhz with the old analog TV system. With service immanent I got my general and became marginally active on 40 cw. Currently I am restoring a Collins KWM-2 and a set of Drake twins T4X and R-4A. You may find me on the air today about anywhere but have picked up my old interest on 6M now SSB and still like to dabble on 2M SSB. During the years I was in Iowa (1976-1996) I held the call W0RLZ. I regained my original call with incentive licensing. My latest adventure on the bands is PSK-31. I now have a amateur extra license, and as well as the archived equipment have a Icom 706mkII to a ZS6BKW antenna at 50' with a tuner for HF and a 3E 6M beam and 7el Vertical beam and a 11el horizontal beam for 2M. 73; It’s a great hobby, ENJOY.
