I am a Nebraska native currently residing in the capitol city of Lincoln. I have been licensed since 1998 and previously held the call KC0ECS. I currently hold an extra class license.
I switched to the vanity callsign K9WAG because I felt the suffix was a bit easier to articulate and understand during DX contacts and because the call reflects my previous career in Veterinary Medicine/Companion Animal Health. I transitioned from clinical specialties in orthopaedics and trauma to serving as college faculty in a degree program for Veterinary Technicians.
I also hold a degree in Health Care Management (human) and served as Medical Education Coordinator for a large, two Hospital / two campus Medical Center. I served 10 years as State Advance Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Course Coordinator certified by the American College of Surgeons.
I proudly served six years in the United States Marine Corps. Semper Fideles!
I am a trained Skywarn/ARES Storm Spotter for Lancaster County Emergency Management and feel privileged to have recently joined the 9-county Southeast Nebraska Medical Reserve Corps.
I enjoy homebrewing antennas, radio transmitter hunting, digital modes and DX contacts. I can be frequently found working BPSK-31.
Look for me as K9WAG/0 when I'm at my northern Minnesota cottage near Ely, MN (St. Louis County), Gateway to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA). My cottage is just 14 miles from the Canada/US border .... EN47BV.
73, Hope to talk to you soon.
