Ham Member Lookups: 6330

I am the current Section Manager for the State of Nebraska. I've been a ham radio operator for 40 yearss. Enjoy the hobby tremendously. I currently hold the Amateur EXTRA class ticket. I held the General Class ticket for 10 years previous to that, and was a novice, previous to that.

I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of the hobby, especially DX, which with my modest station setup I have talked to well over 150 countries, all using 100 watts and a 3 element beam, I have now added an additional beam the TH7DX up at 50 feet...still only using 100 watts!!..My HF rigs are the Yaesu FT-101EE, and the Kenwood TS-140S.  I have also just recently acquired an 82' guyed tower which will house a 4 element StepIR and a 2 element 40 meter beam.  I will also be adding to the shack a Yaesu FT-1000MP.

I have also started with satellite and PSK-31...what a neat mode!!..I also really enjoy CW...the purest form of communication....

I also enjoy HF mobiling.  I currently use an Icom 7000 and the Little Tarheel II antenna.  What a great combination.  I drive a Chevy Silverado Quad Cab and it provides a great platform for the Tarheel.  With just 100 watts and I have enjoyed many hours of HF driving fun and have worked some pretty impressive locations including but not limited too, Angola, Isle of Mann, French Polynesia, Canary Islands, Easter Island to name a few.

I have a son Evan who is KCØCWP, who got his license when he was 10 and is married now and his XYL is studying for her ticket.  He received his ticket 5 years earlier than I did, due in part to his exposure to the hobby, and his curiousity.

I am re-married with 3 kids, the former XYL Gwen, finally got her ticket after 19 years of marriage, and she was KØGAA which is her vanity call...We lost her to the ravages of Ovarian Cancer on June 28th, 2007.  88's dear...I'll see you on the other side some day.

See you around the bands, upgrade, upgrade, upgrade, recruit, recruit, recruit and expose somebody new to this wonderful, wonderful hobby.
