1st Licensed on 05/14/2014 as KG5BKY, on 04/21/2015 accquired my current call sign KA5DJS.  I was interested in Amateur Radio when I was 9 years old and now 50 years later I finally became licensed.  I truly missed out on a lot of fun. However I am really enjoying the hobby. Very active on HF,  I do more listening than anything else. When I find a good conversation going on I love to join in. Long QSO's are my favorite because you get to know people. You can find me on:

  • SSB (160, 80, 60, 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12, 10 & 6 meters)
  • CW  (160, 80, 60, 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12, 10 & 6 meters)
  • JT65, JT 9, FT 8, MSK 144, ISCAT, and WSPR NET  on WJST-X  a superb piece of software
  • PSK31, PSK63, Olivia and all types of Digital Modes on FLDIGI
  • RTTY and FLGDIGI Interfaced through N1MM Logger for Digital loging
  • DSTAR on any reflector or repeater you want to meet up on
  • Local and statewide mobile operation 2m, 70cm, and DSTAR.
  • Echolink and ALL Star operational from my Android L10

Another interest SDR. I have completely integrated my current transceiver on an  HP TouchSmart touch screen computer. All SDR on my ICOM 7410 is touch. I use SDR console V3, an RTL dongle, and an NOO-OP Electric Upconverter at 125 mhz. This setup is on a seperate atenna for receiver noise elimination. It is connected through USB to the transmitter and allows complete tracking with the transceiver.  Through this year 2017 we will be using the SDR Play RSP2 to further integrate SDR in our station setup. We will be reporting back our results to SDR Play and the Amateur Radio Community.

Antennas are HY Gain AV18VS ground radial my chain link fence modified for 160 through 6 meters. And what I call my bat wing loop 160 meters through 10 meters. It is home brew and is very effective. Just added in a very well built and superb Heil PR 781. Beautiful audio improve for my ICOM, still getting it tuned.

For those who want a FREE logger with a lot of features check out N1MM logger. It was a key part of the recent RTTY contest.Setsup easily with MMTTY, FLDIGI, and other digital mode software and allows for interface and logging functions.

I am not retired yet and still work, but I enjoy it. One of the web companies I hold is Amateur Radio Web Design. We provide an entire array of web design services with hosting provided as well as the purchase of domain names through our registar. If you are in need of a freshen up of your website get in touch. Our goal is to modernize the Amateur Radio community. The web design schedule is starting to fill up from Amateurs wanting the old websites updated. Lets us know if we can help you. We have over 23 years of experience in design and implementation.
