Hello from the village of Mink Shoals, West Virginia!

Pictured is BØRIS, official observer.

I started my radio hobby as an SWL, using a friend's Hallicrafter receiver and quickly became hooked. In 1983, a few of my friends and I took a radio class at the local vocational school and I earned my novice ticket at age 15.

My novice station was a Hallicrafters SX-140 and a Heathkit DX-60B with VFO. I fed a 40 meter dipole with some 75 ohm coax and worked novice band CW on 40 and 15 meters. It served me well throughout high school. I was inactive during college but steadily upgraded after graduation, holding each license class (tech, general, advanced then extra). I haven't been continuously active, but I have remained continuously licensed with my original novice call.

Now I use an Icom 756 Pro II and Signalink interface. I especially enjoy CW, JT65A, JT9, FSK441, and BPSK31.

Antennas include a 40m dipole at 30 feet and a 80m wire vertical with 2 elevated radials. Thanks to N8RR for installing each of these! I recently added a JK Navassa (20, 17, 15, 12, 10m) Yagi and an M6m Yagi to a 40 foot (12 meter) tower. Thanks to the West Virginia DX Association, especially N8RR, W8IW, WV8RC, WA8WV, and KD8YP.

Friend and fellow WVU Mountaineer, A65BX/N8XJ, paid me a visit in December 2016. It was great fun to chat after 25 years. He and my brother were musicians in the same band in Morgantown but we didn't know we were both radio amateurs!

Thanks to W8ZT and WA8WV for getting crystal holders for my project.
