I am a US Air Force veteran (served during the Viet Nam era, but not in-country). I retired from the Federal Gov't, working in the Washington, DC area, as a Telecommunications Manager and now live in Smyrna, DE USA.  I am especially interested in Emergency and Public Service Communications and currently serve as the ARES Emergencry Coordinator and RACES Radio Officer for Kent County DE.

I first got introduced to ham radio as a Cub Scout in the 1950's when I asked a family friend why his "TV" antenna was so much bigger than everyone else's.  Now I know that what he had was a multi-band beam on about a 40 foot tower.  I had a lif-long interest in ham radio but never got licensed until after I retired and moved to Delaware.  I was first licensed as a Technician in September 2007, upgraded to General in December 2007, and after becoming a VE I upgraded to Extra in December 2017.
