The Home Station

The Portable Station

On the road with the camper trailer is a lot of  fun, even more so with Ham Radio.

We have two different antenna set ups when camping depending on how much room we have to set up.

A Kenwood TS480 HX and a Stepprir Crank IR.HamRadio to go where we go.

Being on the road with Ham Radio is even easier with a Tarheel Screwdrive antenna and a motorized lift and laymount. A flip of a switch raises the antenna from it's travel position and a push of a button tunes the antenna on the desired frequency with the lowest possible SWR.

Here is a short video that shows how we installed

the Tarheel Scewdriver  antenna on our 5th wheel RV trailer

 Mobile Station #1

THE DX TRUCK

This mobile (The DX Truck) uses an antenna system that was custom made by N2GTO from Noisemaker Antenna. The 54" shaft with a capacitance hat is designed for use with Hustler Resinators. It is mounted with a Noisemaker custom made heavy duty mount, attached to a cross bar that runs between the bed rails just behind the cab.

Mobile Station #2

THE LIMO

It has Six doors, front and rear a/c and room for Nine passengers.

IT IS .......

THE CHAUFFEURED DRIVEN LIMOUSINE !

This Mobile (The Limo) is configured to operate on 2 different bands. These mono band antennas are using the shorty verision of the Noismaker antenna. Custom made by N2GTO these 22.5" shafts with capacitance hats work very well with Hustler resinators.

And Yes, IT IS driven by a Chauffeur.

Mobile Station #3

THE SECRET SERVICE TRUCK

This Mobile (The Secret Service Truck) is using the same antenna from the camper trailer. When we are not camping the Tarheel M200A-HP screwdriver antenna is attached to a stainless steel tilt over hitch mount. This motorized remote controlled screwdriver antenna provides frequency coverage from 10 meters to 80 meters. A push of a button is all it takes to change frequency while in motion and maintain a 1.5:1 swr.

Why is it call the Secret Service Truck?

Well, that's a secret.

The Homebrew Class E AM Tansmitter with Advance Panel Meter digital display meters.

A solid state FET transmitter producing High Fidelity AM audio.

It sounds great!

Watch the video to see the panel meters in action!

The APMs (Advanced Panel Meter) are programmable digital display meters. Their versatility and high visability make them a great meter for monitoring the Class E Transmitter.

The Hot Rod Heathkit

This classic Heathkit SB220 amplifer was rescued from a radio shop. It sports a black anodized front face plate with knobs trimmed in black. It's outer case has been painted black to give this classic amp a modern look. This SB220 works as great as at looks.
