Updated 26 November 2015 (Thanksgiving Day)

No longer President of the Atlanta Radio Club so it is OK to quit emailing me about club issues.  You can contact the current one at President @ AtlantaRadioClub.org.

Right now I am starting to get LxPeditions back to life, going to start getting some regular events going for LxPeditions Atlanta again.  And for the first time as a ham I am starting to play with UHF, been VHF 2m mobile for a while, played with DSTAR, mainly 2m.  But DMR is interesting, what DSTAR was ten years ago EXCEPT you do not have to buy all Icom gear to play.  Going to see if I can integrate DMR into things somehow.

I have recently purchased (all UHF) a ConnectSsytems 800 mobile (love it), Tytera MD-380 (pretty little radio) and a Quantun QP-2100 handheld (not so pretty but then it does not have that big MD-380 display to get all scratched up... eventually).

One interesting thing is all these rigs have a different file format for programming... but the formats all contain the same information (exluding the radio model specific stuff).  My winter project is going to be to write a common format for storage that can be used to build a valid file for any radio - at least the ones I have to figure out what the target needs to look like.

I've already done a similar thing, a program to convert iTunes playlists into USB drive format including copy the album containing a song in a playlist and building a valid M3U for it.  Now if Ford would just be nice and put a stereo system in the Explorer that worked the same way twice in a row I'd be happy (that if for a different forum).

Not mugh of a "bio", I know.  I am more interested in now and what is coming up than what has happened before.
