Thanks for looking me up on QRZ. My name is Scott and I live in Edwardsville IL (EM58) which is 20 miles Northeast of St. Louis MO. I was first licensed as KC9HLN in July of 2006, I then received my vanity call of K0ATC in June 2009 and KC9I in September 2017. Since I've been licensed I've lived in Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois, Central Wisconsin and North Central Oklahoma.

I enjoy many aspects of the hobby, I'm active on HF, local repeaters, and satellite at times. I enjoy experimenting with antennas and the occational contest. I monitor the local repeaters in my area and enjoy working with digital modes as well as phone. I enjoy technical QSO's and am always trying to learn more about this expansive hobby. I'm a former air traffic controller for both the Air Force and for a private corporation. I currently work in I.T. as a CIO for a company that offers managed IT services to small and medium sized businesses.

A note on the ILQP "Illinois QSO Party" I work portable on a 3 county line each year. LoTW does not allow for 3 counties on a single contact/log entry. If you require confirmation please send an SASE with a Mobile Rely Card or other card that denotes the contact information, I will confirm the contact in my log and return your MRC signed via your SASE. I do not have cards to send out and will not recipricate with a QSL card but I'll be happy to ensure your contact is confirmed, thank you for your understanding.

I am a proud member of the P.R.I.M.E Amature Radio Association (K9JHQ) As a team we have won the ILQP club aggragate for 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. As K0ATC, I placed 3rd, 1st, 1st, and 2nd respectfly in the 3 county portable catagory. Much thanks goes out to Dennis KM9O for his efforts in coordinating a great team for this event!

My Station is as follows:

  • Yaesu Ft-1000MP Mark-V Field, full set of SSB and CW filters
  • Antennas: The pictured 20M Moxon at 33ft, Wire dipoles for lower bands
  • Heil Mic HC-5 condenser
  • Signalink USB for Digital Modes
