I retired from the military after over 22 years of service. My assignments required me to be an expert in 5 specialties. Communications was the best choice.
I was trained in crypto, satcom and covert radio operations.
Others were Interrogation Specialist, medical, weapons and explosives.
After the military, I went into law enforcement for quite a few years.
I am now living in Indiana and cruising the Caribbean and visiting my Hawaii property yearly.
The shack is, as always, a work in progress.
Currently I have: HF / 6 meter rig is the ICOM 7300.
The amp is a ACOM 1500 along with a Palstar Rock Crusher rated at 1.5kw.
The antenna I use the most is the Chameleon II, works great.
On 28 March 2016, another ICOM 7300 arrived and I have been setting it up for all modes.
I am working on setting up full split operation on the 7300's and networking the audio and video / control functions.
Transmit audio reports are much better than the 991 and almost equal to the 3000.
Receive audio is great on all the rigs.
Other employment was with Rockwell in radar and ELINT equipment development and deployment. This included training pilots and EWO's in operation and tricks that are not covered in manuals.
I have worked closely with Boeing and Northrup in integration. While I miss working with the fine people at all these companies, retirement is better. I did retire from law enforcement and K9 duties / training.
I am in the process of building my dream home, a log home, in the south. Away from snow and ice and have property just west of Princeville Hawaii.
Thanks for visiting and 73,
