When I was a boy my uncle and his call was W8KW. Got interested in ham radio and I did more swl'ing and playing with antennas. I had a crystal set in the attic but the only thing I could pick up was the two 5000 watt AM broadcast stations a couple of miles a way. I got my First Class Radiotelephone License {now General Class Radio telephone} in 1966and worked in a couple radio stations and TV station. I passed my novice in December 1985 and my first call sign wasKA8YMZ. When I passed my Tech in March 1986 I change my call sign and it wasN8HJH. In 1988 I passed my General and then my advance and changed my call again to the present call sign ofKE8UE. In 1999 I passed my extra. I like working 160, 75, and 40 meters and do work 15 meters once in while. I like building antennas and making them work, and working with feed lines. I am Icom radio fan and I seem to have quite a collection of them. Rag chewing is also what I like to do most. I listen to all other forms of radio. This past year The Toledo Mobile Radio Association named me their Ham of the Year for 2010. I am The Chairperson of the Technical Committee and serve on the Board of Trustees. I am retired after 30 years a Boiler Operator in the local school system and served the community as a volunteer EMT and Firefighter for 30 years also.
