I consider myself very new to the hobby.  Acquired Tech in Nov 2015.  General followed a few months later.  Took Extra test spring of 2016 and now enjoy full privileges.

I got “re-interested” in the hobby after both parents had gone to glory and I was tasked with cleaning out their “stuff”.  In the piles and piles of “stuff” was Dad’s old Tempo One and his D-104 microphone that has his callsign on it.

Shortly after that a friend asked if I had ever had interest in ham radio.  I explained that Dad was a ham, but I was always scared by the CW.  He explained the “no code test” and I immediately got excited.

After passing the Tech, I learned that I could obtain Dad’s old callsign…  which I did:  WD0EKB

I am a United Methodist Pastor serving in “semi-retirement”, and enjoying the hobby daily.

I spend time on 2 Meter P25, thanks to a group of guys that got me hooked on P25.  Use Motorola equipment in all mobiles (yes, even the BMW M-Roadster) along with the shack.

On Nov 1st of 2016 I was granted my current callsign: KF0C.  Dad's call of WD0EKB is now retired.

My shack currently consists of a ic-7300 feeding an Ameritron AL-800 which puts 1,500 Watts through a Palstar AT2K tuner and then to a OCF dipole.  Yes, the D-104 with Dad's callsign on it still sits in the shack.  It's not connected to anything, except my heart.   The next planned addition will be a tri-band beam. It is in the box and waiting for boom truck to put it up... not long now
