I was first licensed in 2000. I have been active on the hf bands since March of 2007.
I am a member of the Flagler Emergency Communications Association and Flagler County ARES (where I serve as an Official Emergency Station). I am very active with the local Skywarn weather spotter program and serve as one of the coordinators for Flagler County. I am a life member of the ARRL. I received my first DXCC certificate in May of 2008. As of December 2013 I have DXCC on 6 bands (40, 20, 17, 15, 12, and10 meters).I recently got the 310 endorsement for my basic and phone DXCC certificates. In August of 2013, I qualified for the DXCC Challenge Award.I recently qualified for the Honor Roll level for WPX mixed and SSB. I have also qualified for the basic and 20 meter SSB WAZ certificates. My primary hf rig is a Yaesu FT-2000.My antennas include a High Gain TH3-MK4 up about 40 feet on a crank up aluminum tower (height restrictions) and a GAP Titan DX vertical.I use a Tokyo Hy-Power HL-1.5Kfx amplifier, if necessary. I really enjoy serving as a volunteer examiner(VE). Note: My antennas were severely damaged during Hurricane Matthew (86 mph winds). I have a hex beam on order. Be back on the air soon!
I have been a member (both volunteer and career) of the Flagler Beach Fire Department since 1972. I served as Fire Chief from 1976 to 2003. I am currently classified as a reserve member assigned to fire police duties. I also assist with pump operations at fires.
