Ham Member Lookups: 3111

I was first licensed in 1977 as wd9fvg, but quickly upgraded to extra the next year with the call ai9e. It was about this time the weather in N. Illinois drove us South to Carrollton, Texas. Upon arriving in Texas I got the call KG5E. My beautiful wife of 40 years is also a licensed ham and her call is K5VQM. My hobbies are ham radio, of course, bow hunting and camping. I like Heathkit & QRP and have several low power rigs. The home station is a TS-440S with various VHF/UHF antennas on a 50' tower which supports a Mosley TA-33. There is also a splattering of ATV and satellite equipment around the shack. My education is in mechanical engineering and I have an MSME from the University of Mo. at Rolla. My youngest son is following in my footsteps and just earned his BSME in 2008 from the University of Texas at Arlington. I have 3 grown children all living in the immediate area so we are blessed to be able to see them on a regular basis. Three grandchildren are the joy of my life. My daughters twin boys born in 2004 and another boy born to my oldest son in 2005 make being a grandfather all it's supposed to be.

See you on the air, Darrell, KG5E
