Hello, from KJ4PGD! My name is John most people call me "Fury” and I’m located in Montross  VA. I’m currently employed by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation as the Chief Ranger at Westmoreland State Park in Montross, VA. I started my career with the DCR when I was in high school as a Interpreter at Douthat State Park in Millboro, VA.  My job was to interpret nature, biology, and the historical culture of the Virginia State Park system. After graduating from Alleghany High School in Covington, VA, I took a two year hiatus from the DCR and went to work for the Clifton Forge Police Department as a patrol officer. When I lived in Alleghany County, VA, I served my community as a Lieutenant with the Sharon Volunteer Fire Department and I also spent a lot of my time teaching as a fire instructor. Once I returned to the DCR, I was offered the job here in Westmoreland County, VA. After moving here I joined the Westmoreland Volunteer Fire Department. As an Amateur Extra I enjoy operating HF, and APRS. I am a member of the Virginia Mountain Amateur Radio Club in Covington, VA and the Westmoreland Amateur Radio Club in Montross, VA.

I currently operate a Kenwood TS-2000 and Kenwood TM-D710A with a Green Lights Lab GPS710 from my home station. For a base antenna I'm using a G5RV and a dual band vertical.  In my mobile I operate a Kenwood TM -710G that is connected to my Garmin Nuvi 350 via a Gtrans cable from Argent data. I also run a Kenwood TS-480SAT in my mobile with a Little Tarheel 2 and a Alpha Moto Hf antenna. During my rides on my Honda CRF250L I use a Wouxun KG-UV6D with a head set in my adventure series helmet along with a Kenwood TH-D72 for APRS. In my work truck, I use a Kenwood TM-V71A that I switch the control head with my home TM-D710A when needed for Search and Rescue APRS operations. I'm also the owner of the KJ4PGD-1 Digipeater at Westmoreland State Park. This Digi is made up of a Yaesu FT-1802 and a Kantronics KPC3+.
