First licensed in 1969 as WN5ZKL and upgraded to General in 1970 with call WA5ZKL. I built from kits a Heathkit HR-10B receiver and a Hallicrafters HT-40 crystal controlled transmitter.  In the years since, I have used many different radios and antennas to work QRP, HF mobile, PKT, ARES, RACES, DX, etc.  The HF station now is an Icom IC-7300 with AL-811H and multiple wire antnnas on HF.  On VHF-UHF with an ICOM ID-880H and a Kenwood TMV-71A.

The HF mobile is an Icom IC-7100 using a Texas BugCatcher antenna with a 22 inch diameter cap hat, but no whip.  The antenna is top loaded and seems to work well without the whip.

I look forward to meeting you on the air.

73,
mack
